Short-Term Observation

Southcentral Foundation (SCF) Nuka System of Care was created and is managed and owned by the Alaska Native people.  SCF provides a wide range of health and wellness services for Alaska Native and American Indian people living in Anchorage and the Matanuska-Susitna Borough as well as providing regional support to residents of 55 rural villages in the Anchorage Service Unit.

To support individuals interested in pursuing professions within the health care industry, SCF provides limited opportunities for students to follow medical providers, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, dentists, dental hygienist, nurses, certified medical assistants and more.

These rotations are limited to 40 hours in a calendar year, though due to the high number of requests received, the number of hours available may be less at the discretion of the department. Please be advised that housing and transportation are not provided for Learner and Observer Experiences at Southcentral Foundation.

Due to customer-owner (patient) privacy, observations for Behavioral Health will not include clinical observation, but provide an opportunity to talk with a provider.

Southcentral Foundation considers the health and well-being of the community a top priority. We have been closely monitoring COVID-19 updates and recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the World Health Organization, as well as state and local governments.
