At Southcentral Foundation, family is at the center of care and well-being. As one facet of a comprehensive approach to supporting family wellness, SCF has implemented the New Generations project, which is a targeted interdisciplinary effort to incorporate best practices of Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health (IECMH) into services at SCF.
Author Dan Heath has recently published a book titled Reset: How to Change What’s Not Working. Southcentral Foundation follows many of the principles outlined in the book for improvement efforts.
Part of the evaluation phase is employee evaluation, in which each employee’s performance over the past year is evaluated by their supervisor/manager according to four core competencies, all of which were developed to support SCF’s mission, vision, and corporate goals.

Over the last few years, organizations have sought assessments of their integrated care teams from subject matter experts working in SCF’s Nuka System of Care.
SCF will be joining with the Anchorage Park Foundation, Native Village of Eklutna leaders, and community partners for the Indigenous naming ceremony of Tanaina Peak near Flattop Mountain.
Southcentral Foundation has created the Nuka Strategic Planning Software, developed in-house to provide employees with a flexible tool that supports work on annual plans.

Southcentral Foundation provides many opportunities for students to learn about SCF’s Nuka System of Care. One of these is the Community Clerkship Experience, offered to Harvard medical students who have completed 2.5 years of their medical school curriculum. Community Clerkship Experience participants learn alongside SCF’s employees, and see a fully customer-owned, relationship-based system of care in action.
